For the vast majority of organisations “data mastery” i.e., the ability to confidently leverage and share data as a corporate asset for decision-making has remained stubbornly elusive. Indeed, FSN’s research finds that only 19% of finance functions claim to have achieved this milestone.
But with the use of ERP systems as a dependable source of forecasting, planning and reporting set to grow by 60% before the end of the decade, there is growing recognition of the importance of ERP as a lynch pin of information management. Yet there is a world of difference between systems optimised for transaction processing and those designed principally for reporting.
So the obvious question is how can organisations better exploit their ERP systems?
To help answer this question Gary Simon, FSN Chief Executive, will be interviewing Nicholas Aversano, COO of Trade Supply Group, a highly acquisitive, $250m turnover, New York based distributor of building materials, that is a shining example of data mastery in practice.
In this 30-minute interview, Gary and Nicholas will explore, how the group has leveraged its ERP system, using a modern reporting tool (Phocas Software) to provide real-time reporting, data integration and collaboration up and down the organisation and across its business functions, so that everyone is empowered to make business decisions utilising their existing skills.
Nicholas, will describe how this state-of-the-art initiative has assisted his personal journey from experienced CFO to COO, and how this modern architecture is supporting effortless scalability as the company pursues data-driven growth through numerous acquisitions.
Gary Simon is Group Publisher of FSN Publishing, he is a graduate of London University, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Fellow of the British Computer Society with more than 40 years’ experience of implementing management and financial reporting systems.
